Pike set for Magical return at Bunbury

The jockey affectionately known as The Wizard, William Pike returns from suspension at tomorrow’s Bunbury Turf Club raceday and looks primed to make an immediate impact with a strong book of rides, beginning with odds-on favourite Magical Charm in the opening Chubb Maiden (Race 1-2019m).

Pike, who was outed for 17 days following his ride aboard Kiss The Breeze in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Pinjarra on February 10, has piloted the Grant and Alana Williams-trained three-year-old filly at each of her three starts to date and the former $NZ170,000 daughter of Savabeel gets her best chance to break maiden status, with TABtouch currently rating her a $1.65 favourite.

The champion 31-year-old, who discussed his mounts on TABradio’s The Sports Daily this morning, has also been booked to ride Sweet Dreamin’ ($3.60 on TABtouch), Rebellionaire ($2), Teacher’s Pet ($4.60), American Joy ($3.70), Vermont Lady ($3.80), Saint Stephen ($8.50) and Mississippi Delta ($3.30).

Pike has booted home 15 winners and 18 placings from 61 rides at Bunbury in season 2017/18 and currently sits seven wins clear of nearest rival Jarrad Noske on the BTC’s Medic Aid WA-Jockey Premiership.
