Premium racing surface for BTC opening day

Officials at the Bunbury Turf Club are excited to present a high-quality surface when their 2018/19 racing season kicks off with a stand-alone metropolitan meeting this Saturday.

A new fertilizing program following the April track renovation has helped the surface return in “premium” condition.

“It’s the best it’s been in my time at the BTC” CEO Alex Doble told Thoroheads.

“The bureau is predicting some rain later in the week but we’re confident the track will play well regardless. We’re putting up a metro-standard racing surface for a metro-standard raceday and look forward to feedback from participants on Saturday.”

Opening day will feature the third running of the $100,000 TABTouch 3YO Classic over 1000 metres, with the likes of outstanding youngsters Valour Road, Black Sabbath, Lady Cosmology and Lordhelpmerun likely to go toe-to-toe as they all embark on ambitious spring/summer campaigns.

“The TABtouch Classic has been a successful initiative for the BTC,” Doble said.

“Another strong edition should see the race quality for listed status, which would mean we would host five black-type events. A significant feather in the cap for a provincial race club anywhere in Australia.”
