BTC Members Syndicate: Karrakatta Plate here we come

BTC Members Syndicate’s star filly Niccovi charged into feature-race contention with a fighting victory in Saturday’s $70,000 Sign On Group Plate (Race 2-1100m) at Ascot.

The Simon A. Miller-trained two-year-old is now one of the leading fancies for WA’s biggest race for the juveniles, the $500,000 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) at Ascot on Saturday April 6, and has opened a $7.50 third favourite when the TABtouch All In Market was released this afternoon.

The Syndicate — comprised on 20 Bunbury Turf Club members — bought in to Niccovi following the 2018 Perth Magic Millions yearling sale and the daughter of Nicconi has gone on to earn $111,075 in stakes and bonuses after only three starts. She also went within a short neck of winning the $250,000 Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) at Pinjarra on February 9.

Niccovi will now enjoy a short break from training before heading towards the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes (1100m) at Ascot on Saturday March 23, and all going well will press on towards her Karrakatta Plate grand final a fortnight later.

The BTC Members Syndicate was active again at the 2019 Perth Magic Millions yearling sale and has secured 15% of the Amelia Park-bred Deep Field ex Europa Point filly (Lot 42), to be trained by leading south west trainer Michael Lane.
