Bunbury Cup Gala Dinner raises $22,205 for Ronald McDonald House Charities

The revival of the Bunbury Cup Gala Dinner was a near sell-out with 160 guests enjoying this prestigious black-tie event last Friday evening at BREC. Not only did the event form part of the Bunbury Cup’s weeklong festivities but it was also in support of a very worthy cause, Ronald McDonald House Charities WA (RMHC WA).

The glamourous crowd generously raised an amazing $22,205 on the night, with all proceeds going directly to RMHC WA.

The Southwest is the largest beneficiary of care and services provided by RMHC WA. In 2017 around 770 families were supported with over 7500 nights of free accommodation, keeping families close during difficult times while managing the care of very sick regional kids.

Also in the Southwest, the RMHC WA funds family retreat homes here in Bunbury and now in Busselton for families simply needing a break from hospital treatment and or an opportunity to reconnect and spend quality family time together.

Master of Ceremonies, the voice of WA Racing, Darren McAullay guided us superbly through the night with special racing guest Brad Parnham. Brad is a jockey of immense talent from a racing dynasty and his insight in relation to recovering from a serious race fall was inspirational.

Peter King, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities WA, also had the opportunity to speak to the room about the great work the charity does on a daily basis and how it assists so many people in the South West and across the state.

Alex Doble, CEO of the Bunbury Turf Club, commented “What a fantastic event -the generosity shown tonight far exceeded our expectations. We are excited to make the Bunbury Cup Gala Dinner an annual event and to continue our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities WA.”
